This is such a rewarding hike to do in Loch Lomond and offers views breath-taking of the surrounding peaks including Ben Lomond (Highest peak in Loch Lomond National Park). The top of Ben Arthur has some really cool stacked rocks which you can climb on if you’re brave enough!

You begin the walk at the carpark and head up on a zig zag through the trees. The view then opens out and you can see Ben Arthur clearly up ahead and Beinn Narnain (926m) to your right.

Approx. halfway through, the path splits into two - here you can either go left towards the face of Ben Arthur and make the scramble to the top (passing through ‘the needle’) or you can carry on straight which takes you behind Ben Arthur. We opted for the latter as it was quite icy when we did it.

The view from half-way up Ben Arthur looking back across the valley is absolutely stunning!

Keep following the trail up to the top where you’ll see the iconic stacks of The Cobbler at 884m.

Soak up the views from up here, have a spot of lunch and then head back down the way you came. Or if you’re after a longer route, why not head over to Beinn Ime (1,011m) and bag a munro.

The route I took:

To avoid the scramble, you can go around the back of The Cobbler (follow the down arrows on the way up).
